Tottenham Manager Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not Genuine Supporters'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Raise Tension on the Manager

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "those individuals can't be real Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of scores in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth Premier League at home defeat of the year.

However the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's second score when Vicario gave away possession far outside his area.

He came out to handle a high pass and carried the ball towards the touchline.

However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario once more, some Spurs fans booed him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

One of those jeering episodes really irritated the manager.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly booed the situation and booed after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be real Spurs fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind one another going forward."

Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second-half performance.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the second goal was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He is a great team player, he's a true figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italian national team the keeper is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

He stated following the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"That score was a mistake of mine, I accept responsibility for that," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a bad way. It was an even bigger mountain to climb."

He said being booed "is part of the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It is on the team to remain more calm, to focus on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it's hard to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was far from an simple score for Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly also came on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

10 seconds elapsed between Vicario coming out of his area and the midfielder striking – which was 5 moments after the kick.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," he said.

"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest lit up somewhat.

"Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. Then it was all about attempting to make the correct contact and get it on target. I felt a positive feeling, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager

While the keeper's mistake dominated coverage, this was an overall bad performance for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their tenth home loss of 2025 in the league, a joint club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.

The side still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and title holders the Reds to come before the end of the year.

Just a single of those wins have occurred after Frank replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to work against you as well – the first was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost another game. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the early stages.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck something we can utilize to learn."

Tottenham have lost 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are recording nine point five shots and three point two efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on record in a single campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a prestigious role at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
