Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in action and insanity with the same enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, socially charged narratives. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose creations have represented all of those things.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game series, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by featuring a new backdrop and ensemble in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always delving into the essence of people through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our common unconventional, visionary style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
