Reports indicate that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
An Important Reunion for Fans
Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their appearance will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.

The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
